Membership in the Guild of Colonial Artisans and Tradesmen 1607-1783

is extended to men and women 18 years of age or older who are of

good moral character and who are lineally descended from

an artisan or tradesman who lived in the American Colonies from the founding

of Jamestowne, 13 May 1607, to the Treaty of Paris, signed 3 September 1783.

Artisans and tradesmen are defined as those who made a living

in the arts and those who crafted or traded items and/or were part of

select Royal Guilds previously established in the Old World

who continued their practices in the American Colonies.

Farmers or those dealing in the raising or selling

of livestock or poultry are not included.

Membership is by invitation only.

Descent in each generation must be from parents who were lawfully married.

from the Society a copy of our complete qualifying


ancestor booklet which contains over 1500 names of


individuals whom we believe to qualify


as Jamestowne Ancestors.

Hereditary Members are the lineal and collateral, male or female descendants

of an Original Member, or one who would have qualified as an original member.

Collateral descent is defined as a brother or sister of an original member,

and their lineal descendants. Original Members are any allied veteran

who was physically present in the area south of the Tropic of Cancer

(23.4 North Latitude) during the Great Pacific War against the Empire of Japan,

between December 7, 1941, when the nations of Great Britain, France, Australia,

New Zealand, The Netherlands, the United States, Burma, and India

were attacked, until September 8, 1951, when the treaty

of peace was signed with the defeated Empire of Japan.

of the Civil War, 1861 to 1865, ex-army nurses of that War,

are also eligible for membership.

Honorary Membership Any Circle may admit to honorary membership

any son, grandson, great-grandson, or blood kin nephew of an honorably

discharged soldier, sailor, marine who fought in the Civil War, 1861-1865.
